Will incarcerated dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel get a retrial?
Music News has been reliably informed that Kartel is currently in the process of retaining a legal team to apply for an appeal.
A source close to the entertainer tells Music News that Vybz Kartel is anxious and concerned about the information which surfaced during the trial involving juror misconduct.
Accused juror Livingston Cain is currently on trial for allegedly trying to bribe the forewoman and other members of the jury. During his ongoing trial, it was understood that two members of the jury worked for the Jamaica Defense Force while another two are believed to be neighbors.
One attorney who is already on the deejay’s legal team reveals to Music News that the transcript of Vybz Kartel’s trial is practically ready, hinting that they will make an appeal before the year ends.
Conspiracy by the state against the dancehall deejay is part of the defense’s argument going forward.
But with the case so heavily publicized, what is the likelihood of Vybz Kartel getting a fair trial in Jamaica?
Kartel is currently serving a life sentence at hard labour after being convicted for murder last year April.
