Corey From Dancehall Group Merital Family Shot And Killed In Montego Bay.

Derrick Edwards, popularly known as Corey from dancehallgroup Merital Family was shot and killed while leaving a casino in Montego Bay on Thursday night. At this time the reason behind his killing is unclear .
The four-member group from Flankers, Montego Bay, shot to stardom in 2010 when they did My Money Ha Ha on the Strip Club rhythm and was part of the Vybz Kartel-led Portmore Empire.

But a year later, the group left the Portmore Empire clan, citing their careers were being stifled and lack of payment for royalties for their hit single. The unit went on to record other popular songs before their current hiatus from the dancehall scene.

THE Montego Bay police have arrested a man who they believe can assist them in their investigation of the shooting death of Derrick 'Corey' Edwards on Thursday night.
Edwards, 32, was a member of dancehall group Merital Family.
According to the Corporate Communication Unit (CCU), the Jamaica Constabulary information arm, no charges have been laid against the suspect who was picked up on the weekend. Investigations are ongoing.
A past student of St James High School, Edwards -- a singjay -- was shot and killed by unknown assailants as he approached his car in Ironshore, St James.
