Texas Man Stages Fake Kidnapping Of Himself Just To Go Out With Friends

For lack of a better word, 34 year old Rogelio Andaverde of Edinburg,Texas is an idiot.

Because simply telling his wife that he wanted to go out drinking with his friends seemed to complicated or scary, he decided to find a 'creative' way to make it happen.

That 'creativity' might have worked for the very short term, but now has gotten him in deep trouble with both his wife and with law enforcement officials.

It was around 10:30 at night when Andaverde and his wife were rudely interrupted inside their home by masked gunmen.

They took Andaverde away, and his terrified wife called police.

“We took this incident very serious because of the circumstances described to us by the wife,” Sheriff Guadalupe Trevino said. “People don't just barge into your house and kidnap you for the hell of it.”

A helicopter and about a dozen deputies were deployed in an attempt to find the supposed victim.

By mid-morning, TA-DA, Anderverde walked back into his home claiming he had been released.

A follow-up investigation revealed he had staged the kidnapping to “spend time with his friends and party.”

“We have people file false reports all the time, and we put them in jail for it,” Trevino said. “But I've never had someone do it just to get out of the house.”

Andaverde has been charged with making a false report to police, a Class B misdemeanor, and his bond was set at $5,000.Source>
