A suspect is dead after an active shooter report at the Ohio State University campus in Columbus, Ohio, this morning, according to the Columbus Department of Public Safety.

- A male suspect who a vehicle into a crowd of pedestrians on the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus and then used a butcher knife to attack them was shot and killed by police, officials say.
- The school alerted students and faculty of an active shooter shortly before 10 a.m., ordering them to shelter in place as police, FBI and ATF units swarmed the area.
- At least 8 people were being treated at local hospitals. None appear to have life-threatening injuries.
- The shelter in place order was lifted around 11:30 a.m., and scene was declared secure.
- Classes were canceled for the remainder of the day.

At a midday press conference, Ohio State University officials told reporters that they received a report of a male suspect who struck pedestrians with his vehicle, then got out of the car and used a butcher knife to attack them. A responding officer shot arrived on the scene moments later, and shot and killed the suspect.
