Hov and Carmelo Anthony are reportedly part of a
group in talks to purchase the radio station. Jay Z is
reportedly part of a group in negotiations to purchase
New York radio station Hot 97, according to reports
published yesterday (January 19).
“According to a ROCK SOLID SOURCE - Shawn "Jay
Z" Carter along with a group of investors that includes
NY Knicks star Carmelo Anthony are currently
NEGOTIATING TO BUY Hot 97 radio station," reports.
“Talks are still early, but we're told that both sides have
HIRED LAWYERS and INVESTMENT BANKERS -
and are serious in getting a deal done.”
Hot 97, home of Ebro, Peter Rosenberg, Miss Info and
Funkmaster Flex, is considered one of Hip Hop’s
legacy radio stations. Last week, Funkmaster Flex
ranted against Jay Z.
“A couple years ago, I dropped that DJ Funk Flex
app,” Funkmaster Flex said. “I get an email from a
writer at Life + Times, the website. They want to talk to
me about my digital involvement and write a story.
First of all, I salute the young man who wrote the story.
I appreciate the love, but bruh I’mma tell you
something.
I peeped back then when they was using a writer
outside that did not work for the website. And that
website is trash by the way. And I figured I’d say that
trash so you take me serious on where I’m going.
They do this interview after I drop my app. Asking me
a lot of key questions about apps, building apps, how,
why, how’d you launch it. But all of that didn’t get put
in the story though. A lot of that information got put
into that new Jay Z app.”
If the reported deal goes through, Jay would be Flex’s
boss. “Would give up 2 toes to have a few yrs of that
uber selfconfidence that @DJFunkFlex has figure 34
yrs would be enough #nobigtoestho, ” MissInfo says
on Twitter. “ Just wonder what that feels like zero
selfdoubt or hesitating? SO freeing! Then again there
those pesky consequences for us little people lol…
socially the lines are so intertwined theres no way for
real beef thankfully so much shared Roc Nation family
its entertainment.”
"I can have my opinion bruh because look, when you
address a rapper, I'ma give you what you do: you wait
for a hot song to come out, you jump on the remix,
and then you throw a shot," Flex says. "Which I
respect by the way. If you ever plan on taking a shot
like that at me or any sublim, I will be on this radio
every day going at you. I just want you to understand,
just 'cause I'm talking a little lower bro, that's what it
is."
