@YamicheI just confirmed that the family of #MichaelBrown has been told that the grand jury has reached a decision and a press conference is coming - 6 hours agoThe White House said Monday that President Barack Obama again urged that any protests in Ferguson be peaceful after the grand jury's decision, Reuters reports. In an interview with ABC's "This Week" on Sunday, Obama called on demonstrators to "keep protests peaceful."
"This is a country that allows everybody to express their views," Obama said. "Allows them to peacefully assemble to protest actions that they think are unjust, but using any event as an excuse for violence is contrary to the rule of law and contrary to who we are.
"You know, part of what I have asked Eric Holder to do is to not just engage with the folks in Ferguson, but to engage nationally in a conversation between law enforcement and communities of color that oftentimes feel as if they not being treated fairly by law enforcement officials," he continued. "Sometimes their concerns are justified, sometimes they're not justified. Law enforcement has a very tough job. But what is clear is that that lack of trust between communities and law enforcement crops up not just in Ferguson but in places all across the country." - 6 hours ago

- 6 hours agoThe grand jury has reached a decision on whether to charge Ferguson Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown Jr., several media outlets reported Monday. The panel’s ruling is expected to be revealed during a press conference at the courthouse in Clayton, Mo., later today.
Yahoo News' Jason Sickles reports from Clayton:
Anxiety over the decision has kept the St. Louis region on edge, as the public waits to see whether the fatal shooting of an unarmed black teenager by a white police officer will result in an indictment.
The grand jury convened Aug. 20 to hear evidence and testimony. The 12-member group was asked to decide if there was probable cause to charge Wilson with a crime and what that charge should be. Options range from second-degree involuntary manslaughter to second-degree murder. Wilson, 28, could face life in prison if convicted of the most serious charge.
But the panel may find that probable cause does not exist and dismiss the state’s case without charging Wilson.
