Local sources have reported that jurors in the Vybz Kartel murder trial have been sent home and are expected to return tomorrow morning at 10.
Reports are that the Presiding Judge dismissed the jurors for the day as a no-case submission process that started yesterday did not end in time for the their return to court. The trial was expected to begin in the jurors’ presence at 2 o’clock but the prosecution was still responding to the submissions made by defense lawyers.
Justice Campbell assured the 11-member jury that by next week, he will hand over the case to them for their deliberation.
While defense lawyers completed their submissions to have the case thrown out this morning, lead prosecutor Jeremy Taylor is responding on behalf of the Crown.
If the judge accepts the submissions from the defense, it could result in the State’s murder case against Vybz Kartel and the four other co-accused being thrown out.
