Murder Of Rapper Associated With 50 Cent In Revenge For ’98 Slaying

The fatal shooting of Queens rapper Mazaradi Fox (born Jamal Green, pictured) last month was revenge for a shooting he participated in 16 years ago, according to the New York Daily News.
NYPD officers arrested Jamal Scott Tuesday for allegedly firing in to an SUV in Jamaica last month. The vehicle had four occupants, including Mazaradi Fox.
Fox reportedly stumbled out of the car and was found dead at a nearby driveway. The local artist was close friends with rapper 50 Cent.
According to officials, Fox’s murder was payback for a shooting where he and another man allegedly killed Scott’s brother, Curtis, outside Jamaica’s Baisley Houses in July 1998.
That shooting happened after Fox began an argument with multiple men and told his associate to fire, the NYPD claims.
At the time of Curtis’ murder, he was struck by a bullet just above his left eye. Even though Fox was cleared of Curtis’ murder, he was found guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in 2001. For that, he received a four-year prison sentence.
Fox, though, was arrested again in 2011 for an assault case. He was later freed in December 2013, a mere two weeks before the shooting.
Scott has 10 previous arrests — most of them stemming from drugs and weapons possession, according to officials. He was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
Fox’s girlfriend questioned why Scott shot her lover when he was never charged with the 1998 murder, “(The shooting) was almost 16 years ago,” she said. “Jamal [Mazaradi Fox] didn’t pull the trigger. He didn’t shoot him. He just happened to be there when it happened.”
“This is 16 years ago and you’re still harboring that?” she asked. “Killing Mazaradi, that’s not going to bring your brother back.”
Before his death, Fox had plans on re-entering the hip-hop arena.
“I’m ready to get the money and get the business,” he said in a 2013 jail interview. “I’m ready now. I was young in the game and now I’m ready.”
In response to the murder, 50 Cent tweeted:
“Saddened by the news of Mazaradi’s tragic passing my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.”
