Teen Shot Dead At Party Family Warned Him Against Attending

iquan williams killedA 16-year-old teenager was fatally shot at a party in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn Saturday evening, shortly after his family warned him against going, the New York Daily News reports
Iquan Williams (pictured right) attended the party, even though his brother heard through Facebook that one guest was planning on bringing a gun.
“We called him at 9 p.m., and said, ‘Don’t go.’” said a tearful Tiana Williams, his mother. “He texted me (around 10 p.m.). I said, ‘Watch your surroundings. Be careful.’ He said, ‘I love you.’ I said, ‘I love you.’”
The younger Williams apparently reneged on a promise to not go. “He said he wouldn’t, but he went … ” Tiana added.
Around 90 minutes after his mother texted him, someone opened fire at the party. Williams died in the attack. A motive for the shooting has not been revealed, and cops are still looking for the assailant.
His family believes he was an innocent bystander in the case. “He must have walked out with someone they were shooting at,” Williams said.
“My son didn’t deserve this. We don’t deserve to be out here crying… I want whoever did this. “They ripped our hearts out.”
A youth who lives near where the shooting happened said it came out of nowhere.
“I heard gun shots. I was around the corner. By the time I got back to the block the cops were all over the place,” said Ty Moore.
Iquan is the youngest person to be killed in the city this year thus far. In all, the city has seen around eight murders since 2014 started, The News reported.
