There was a time when the young teaching career of 32 year old Ethel Anderson of Florida was really looking bright.
She was named 'Teacher Of The Year' at Mango Elementary School in Seffner a few years back due to being so helpful to students.
Getting a little too 'helpful' to one of her pupils has landed her in hot water however, as she was convicted this week on all nine counts of lewd and lascivious behavior.
The student was 12 a the time but was actually on the stand for his 14th birthday to go into details about how things happened between him and Anderson.
"We would make out, tongue kiss," the victim says in testimony during the trial on Tuesday. "She would rub on my legs, kiss on my ears, neck, and stuff like that."
Anderson was 29 years old at the time of the allegations that she took things too far while tutoring him in math at the Riverside home she shared with her husband and kids. The boy said Anderson touched him and performed oral sex on him.
Anderson admitted to sending the student more than 230 pages of racy text messages. She said the texts about porn and sexual acts shown in court were just "sexual therapy," a fantasy to motivate the "troubled student"into becoming a better student.
She told the court, "At the time, with him struggling with school and having behavioral issues and anger issues, acting out at home and not being able to connect with his family, the way that he and his parents felt, that was my purpose. To gain his attention and, yes, I did it in an inappropriate way."
Anderson is being held at the Hillsborough County Jail. Her sentencing is set for November 5 and she faces a maximum of 135 years in jail; each count carries a 15 year sentence. Source
