Raven Symoné Comes Out: Happy She Can “Finally Get Married”

<> at NYU Cooper Union Great Hall on June 12, 2012 in New York City.
Actress Raven Symone has joined thousands of Americans in celebrating the rights of gay and lesbian couples to become married in the eyes of the law.  The former Cosby kid tweeted, “ I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you.”
The tweet had no further context but it’s safe to assume that she was referring to the the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn The Defense of Marriage Act back in June, which will allow same-sex marriages to be recognized by the Federal government.
Raven joins a growing list of openly gay African-Americans in media and entertainment that includes comedienne Wanda Sykes and CNN’s Don Lemon.
This ends the speculation about Symone’s sexuality, which she has dismissed in the past with a simple, “My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I’m datings to know. I’m not one for a public display of my life.”
