Boston Bombers Painted In Brownface On Magazine Cover [PHOTO]

Boston bombing suspects and brothers, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev have made it to the cover of a magazine. The Week magazine featured the suspects in a whole new light–or dark, depending on how you look at it. The Russian brothers appear to be tinted brown as cartoons on the magazine’s cover. It seems the media wants to literally paint them to look more Arabic.
President Obama said it best, “There’s a temptation to latch on to any bit of information, sometimes to jump to conclusions. But when a tragedy like this happens … it’s important that we do this right.” And he has a point. As much as it’s the media’s responsibility to report the news in an accurate way, it’s up to the public to not make ridiculous assumptions on someone based on the color of the skin, or what God they serve. President Obama went on to say, “That’s why we have investigations. That’s why we have courts. And that’s why we take care not to rush to judgment — not about the motivations of these individuals; certainly not about entire groups of people.”
Racism and religion have always been hot button topics, but since this tragic bombing, clueless Americans have been “retaliating” and mistaking the identities of several Muslim men. It’s a shame that we live in a world that is supposedly progressive, but at every chance we get, we’re taking steps back.
What do you think about these new “brown” bombing suspects?
