Jay-Z's business empire continues to expand. The Brooklyn, New York born and raised rapper has gone from street hustler to being one of the most respected businessmen in America with a net worth of $475 million according to Forbes.
His investments in the Brooklyn Nets, Roc-A-Wear, Roc Nation and Carol's Daughter have paid off handsomely. Now Hov has now partnered with Creative Artists Agency to launch Roc Nation Sports, a full-service sports management company, reports USA Today.
"Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years," said Jay in a statement.
RNS has already landed it's first big client. They convinced New York Yankees All-Star second baseman Robinson Cano to fire long time sports agent Scott Boras to sign with their company.
"At this point in my career, I am ready to take a more active role in my endeavors both on and off the field," said Cano. "I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports & CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- & long-term goals."
The first order of business for Roc Nation Sports will be to ink Cano to a new contract. His current one expires after this season.
