The mother of slain Chicago teen rapper, Lil JoJo, Robin Russell, and his brother, John Coleman, made an appearance on BET’s Don’t Sleep with T.J. Holmes and made some explosive allegations.
Speaking on the rumors that rising rap star Chief Keef played a role in her son’s death, the distraught mother said she doesn’t believe that he pulled the trigger, but she does believe that he hired a hitman and she also fears for her life.

As previously reported by NewsOne, retaliation for the unsolved September 4 murder of Lil JoJo, 18, real name Joseph Coleman, has possibly led to multiple deaths that Chicago police are currently investigating.
Lil JoJo was engaged in a war of words with rapper Chief Keef, real name Keith Cozart, who is signed to Interscope Records, home of Dr. Dre, Eminem and 50 Cent. Recklessly, JoJo taunted Keef, and associates Lil Durk and Lil Reese, in a diss track posted on YouTube. In a separate video, JoJo can be heard antagonizing an alleged Keef associate, who clearly responds, “I’ma kill you!” The tension escalated and threats were exchanged on Twitter, culminating with JoJo’s death mere hours later after he tweeted his location.
Even though both Lil JoJo and Chief Keef are allegedly affiliated with rival gangs, Russell said that she had no idea. And when asked by Holmes did she feel powerless to protect her other children from a similar fate, she went on the defensive, saying that she wasn’t at fault:
“All I can I do is raise my child, I can’t hold his hand 24-7 when he goes in the streets.“I teach them right from wrong, but I have other kids, I can’t hold his hand 24-7.”
When Holmes asked his brother, John, what lesson could be learned from Lil JoJo’s death, he said that his brother died trying to take care of his family. The lesson that he learned was to address individuals that he may have a problem with, not entire groups as his brother did in the track that led to his death, 3 Hunna K.
In a tragic statement, contradictory to Russell’s claim that she was not aware of her son’s gang activity, she said that she enjoyed her son’s music and supported his efforts to be a rapper.
