Mayor Cory Booker, (D-Newark, New Jersey), is probably as close to a superhero that you’re going to get in politics. Known for his transparent and relaxed relationship with the residents of ‘Brick City,’ he’s plowed snow for neighbors trapped after blizzards, gone on a hunger strike in the middle of a drug-infested neighborhood to increase police presence and, in his spare time, he saves women from burning houses.
But this one takes the cake.
In an unprecedented move, the affable, unflappable mayor invited victims of Hurricane Sandywithout power and food to his home to relax — via Twitter.

Though Booker, who is a media darling, had been obscured by the larger-than-life burgeoning political partnership between Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) and President Barack Obama in the wake of Sandy’s wrath, he has emerged from the shadows via social media, proving once again why he is a beloved, local politician on a competitive, national stage.
