Every time you think you’ve seen everything under the sun, regarding Republican antics over President Barack Obama’s re-election last week, someone else does something that takes the bellyaching to a whole other level. Enter Florida resident and sun-tanning store owner Henry Hamilton. What could possibly have happened this time? After Hamilton learned that Obama won the election, he committed suicide in his Florida home, according to the Miami Herald.
In the weeks leading up to the election, Hamilton, whose friends said was struggling with his business, reportedly told his live-in partner, Michael Cossey, that “If Barack gets re-elected, I’m not going to be around.”
Since Hamilton was open about his intentions to those close to him, a friend asked Officer Pablo Rodriguez to perform a “welfare check” on the Tropical Tan owner.
Just two days after the President was re-elected — with Cossey asleep on the couch after reportedly spending a night out with friends — Officer Rodriguez found Hamilton dead in the condo.
The Miami Herald reports:
[Hamilton] was found dead on Nov. 8, with the words “F— Obama!” scrawled on his will and two empty prescription bottles nearby.
The prescription bottles were reportedly Xanax and Seroquel, which treat anxiety and schizophrenia, respectively.
Driving the point home, Cossey added that his partner was “very upset about the election results.”
While Hamilton’s autopsy results haven’t been delivered yet, police spokeswoman Alyson Creaninsisted that foul play did not appear to be a part of this case, “There’s absolutely no evidence of foul play.”
As for Hamilton’s mental state before he reportedly overdosed on prescription drugs, Cossey, who says he last spoke with Hamilton during the election results, says Hamilton’s business stressed him out, “[he had] been very stressed about his business.”
